The detail below is the binding version; this box is a convenience.

Fish Hook Labs is a static content and tooling website. We keep data collection to the bare minimum required to serve the site.

What we collect

We do not ask for or store personal information. There are no user accounts, no login, and no contact form — the only way to reach us is email, and that reaches a normal mailbox rather than a database. We do not run tracking-based advertising. If we add privacy-respecting analytics in the future, we will update this page and gate any non-essential cookies behind your consent.

The Rig Studio and your builds

The Rig Studio runs entirely in your browser. Every selection you make — target species, water, and each component — is held in memory and encoded into the fragment of the page address, the part after the #. Two consequences follow, and both are deliberate:

  • Your build never reaches us. By design, browsers do not transmit the URL fragment to the server. Sharing a build means sharing a link, and the recipient's browser reconstructs the build locally from the text in that link. There is no build database, no saved-project storage, and nothing to breach.
  • Anyone with the link has the build. A build link is not secret. Treat it the way you would treat any URL you paste into a chat.

The compatibility engine, the diagnostics, the pricing estimates, and the underwater simulation all run client-side against data shipped with the page. Using the studio sends no queries anywhere.

Cookies and local storage

This site currently uses only essential site storage and does not load analytics or marketing cookies. The consent banner stores one local preference under the keyfhl-cookie-consentgranted or denied — so we remember whether you selected Accept or Reject. No optional tracking loads for either choice because none is currently installed. If that changes, it will remain off unless your saved choice is granted, and this policy will be updated. When you click an affiliate link, the destination retailer (for example Amazon) may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy; that is outside our control.

Third parties

Outbound affiliate links send you to third-party retailers. Once you leave our site, their privacy policies apply. We encourage you to review them. How those links are constructed and marked is described on the affiliate disclosure page.

The site is served from Cloudflare's network. Like any web host, the serving infrastructure processes standard request data such as IP address and user agent in order to deliver the page and to mitigate abuse. We do not use that data to build profiles of visitors.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Since we collect no personal information from anyone, there is nothing here to delete — but if you have a concern, write to us.

Changes to this policy

If our data practices change — most plausibly by adding analytics — this page will be updated and the date at the top will change before the change takes effect.
